A mini forest comes to North 4th!

A mini forest is a small, dense woodland of native trees and shrubs that adapt well to the local environment and are planted and designed to mimic natural forests in a small space.

And we’re thrilled that the Parks Department has embraced our idea of bringing a mini forest to Williamsburg at the end of North 4th Street! Lincoln Restler’s office has invested $35,000 in the first mini forest in New York City, which will also include a gardener to tend to the mini forest year round.

Once completed in late Spring, the new mini forest in the Northside of Williamsburg will have an outsized impact on our community - by supporting biodiversity, improving air quality, mitigating flood risk, and beautifying a rundown, underutilized park space. They’re excited to explore ways to replicate this project across the district and beyond!
