Introducing Rosie @ A Rosie Day!
Ok, for a lot of you, Rose needs no introduction. You only need pop to the park with her for 2 minutes to realise she is known and much loved by so many children, nannies and parents in our community!
For those who have had the pleasure, here’s a bit more background, and for those who haven’t met Rose, or experienced Rosie Day, here is your introduction!
How did you get here?
A Rosie Day was born from my deep passion for teaching, art, creativity, and building a strong sense of community. My love for children and education began early, and my teaching journey started in Chicago. It was in New York City, however, where I discovered my true calling while teaching at a Reggio Emilia-based preschool. There, I nurtured young minds through creativity, art, and hands-on learning. After becoming a mother in 2019, I took what I thought was a two-year sabbatical to stay home with my son. During this time, especially amid the isolation of the pandemic and the challenges of motherhood without nearby family, I realized the need for a supportive space where both children and parents could connect. This inspired me to create A Rosie Day—a place where my love for teaching, the arts, community, and igniting curiosity in young learners could come together, offering an open-ended, creative environment for all families.
What are you solving for parents?
With A Rosie Day, the problem we're solving is the lack of accessible, community-driven, and creative educational spaces that foster early childhood development while also supporting families. In a world where many parents and caregivers struggle to find meaningful opportunities for both personal connection and their children's growth, A Rosie Day offers a solution. We provide a nurturing environment that encourages lifelong learning, creativity, and collaboration for children of various ages, from 12 months and up. Our programs—focused on hands-on art, sensory play, STEM exploration, and education through the Reggio Emilia approach—are designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and development in young learners.
Additionally, we recognize the need for more community-focused spaces where parents and caregivers can bond with their children and connect with others. By offering afterschool classes, weekend events, and even private gatherings, we aim to help families navigate the challenges of modern life, build meaningful connections, and engage in activities that foster both personal and educational growth.
What do parents love most about your offering?
Parents love A Rosie Day for its warm, nurturing , authentic environment where their children can explore and learn through creative, hands-on activities. Rose’s personalized, child-led approach ensures that every child feels valued and engaged, while intimate class sizes foster both growth and connection. Families appreciate the opportunity to bond, with many highlighting the sense of community and the supportive, welcoming atmosphere. Rose and her team support creativity, patience, and the ability to make learning fun.
Ok, tell us a little about YOU?
As the Founder at A Rosie Day, I oversee all programming and design our programming and events. Alongside my team, I also host larger community events that bring families together. Whether I’m leading a class, collaborating on projects, or connecting with local businesses and families, my focus is on making A Rosie Day a supportive, vibrant space where both children and parents can thrive.
What do you love about what you do?
I always say I have the greatest job! I get to be a mom to my 5-year-old son (my favorite title!) while doing exactly what I’m meant to do—teaching and creating alongside families and students. He gets to see his mom at her best because I’m following my passion, and I hope he’ll follow his own wherever it leads. Every teacher knows those special days when everything clicks, whether it’s a breakthrough moment with one child or a few. It’s the warm hugs, sweet hellos, and goodbyes in the studio, at the playground, or even at Trader Joe’s from little artists, parents, and caregivers. I’m beyond grateful to be doing what I love and to be part of such a wonderful community. <3 I don't take any of it for granted.
What’s your favorite thing to do, when not at A Rosie Day?
My favorite thing to do? Oh, that’s easy—I absolutely LOVE music and dancing! Whether it’s house, hip-hop, funk, salsa, YOU NAME IT! If there’s a patch of ground to dance on, I’m there! Domino Park Salsa Wednesdays in the summer are a family favorite. I just can’t resist—it makes everything feel right! Long day, DANCE PARTY! I also try to catch live shows as much as possible, whether at local spots like Brooklyn Bowl or Brooklyn Steel. Now that I’m in my elementary school mom era, I’m finding I get to do this more often! Hang in there, toddler parents! :)
