Sculpting Stories: Visual Journals, Artmaking, and Creation

Over a span of 23 weeks, your artist will embark on an exciting journey exploring the world of SCULPTURE!

This class invites students to explore the fusion of sculpture, visual journaling, and creative expression through interactive art-making activities. Each week, participants will experiment with a wide variety of materials and techniques, ranging from crafting plaster casts and creating homemade paper to sculpting objects and painting on unconventional surfaces. Students will also delve into visual journaling, utilizing prompts and found objects to document their creative journey, thoughts, and inspirations. Throughout the course, we will incorporate elements of art history, analyzing artworks by zooming in to uncover intricate details and zooming out to appreciate the larger context. The class fosters a playful and open-minded atmosphere for art creation, nurturing an environment where creativity thrives through experimentation, collaboration, and reflection. By the end of the course, students will have developed their own visual journal, explored various sculptural techniques, and produced a collection of unique pieces that convey their personal stories.
